Position Summary

Nova UA Federal Credit Union is seeking an executive to serve as Vice President, Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer. Serving as a strategic partner to the President/CEO, this executive will shape, advance, and execute the credit union’s strategic vision, growth priorities, and brand direction.

This role is structured as part of an intentional executive succession plan, preparing the incoming leader to transition into the Chief Executive Officer role upon the current CEO’s retirement. This is a strategic executive leadership position without direct day-to-day operational responsibilities, focusing primarily on institutional growth, market expansion, brand modernization, product innovation, and executive governance alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy & Organizational Vision: Lead the formulation and implementation of multi-year strategic business plans aligned with Board priorities, market opportunities, and ROI benchmarks. Act as a core strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on strategic risks, macroeconomic shifts, and industry trends.

• Marketing & Digital Member Acquisition: Lead marketing, brand positioning, and member communication strategies. Leverage digital marketing channels, segmentation, and performance analytics to capture market share, attract younger demographics, and deepen engagement with the existing core membership base.

• Business Development & Field of Membership Expansion: Drive external growth initiatives, including Field of Membership (FOM) expansion, corporate sponsor relationships, community partnerships, and civic alliances.

• Product & Service Innovation: Utilize market research, competitive insights, and business intelligence to identify opportunities to strengthen deposit and loan offerings. Champion modern, digital-first product launches and fintech integrations that optimize the member experience and drive non-interest revenue.

• Community Relations & Brand Advocacy: Serve as an external ambassador for Nova UA FCU, elevating institutional visibility with civic groups, local business organizations, and partner communities.

• Governmental Affairs & Regulatory Alignment: Monitor regulatory and governmental shifts impacting the credit union industry, ensuring strategic initiatives align with NCUA regulations and compliance standards.

• Strategic Talent & Team Leadership: Lead departmental strategy, business intelligence, project management, and marketing teams. Provide leadership in hiring, talent development, performance coaching, and fostering a culture of accountability and service excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field required. An MBA or Master’s degree is preferred.

• Executive Experience: Minimum of 8–10+ years of progressive senior leadership experience strategy, corporate development, consulting, finance, business development, or a related field.

• Leadership Background: Demonstrated track record in senior leadership roles (e.g., VP, Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Growth Officer, or EVP) within an institution of comparable size and complexity ($100M–$500M+).

Core Competencies & Leadership Attributes

• Financial & Strategic Acumen: Strategic thinking and business judgement, financial and analytical acumen, negotiation and relationship management, and ability to translate strategy into execution.

• AI & Marketing Technology Literacy: Understanding of how to use AI and social media tools responsibly to drive growth and increase productivity, including data literacy (finding, interpreting, analyzing, and using data to make informed decisions).

• Emotional Intelligence & Cultural Fit: High EQ with the ability to honor Nova UA’s heritage and membership trust while guiding the organization through digital and strategic modernization.

• Executive Presence & Agility: Strong communication skills with an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable working closely with the CEO and Board to transition smoothly into the chief executive role.
